    • “Better world shopper” has announced the winners of their annual competition of the “greenest” companies in the world.

      Here is their “top 10”.

      • Seventh Generation (household and personal care)
      • Method (home cleaning and personal care)
      • Organic Valley (food)
      • Cliff Bar (food bars)
      • Aveda (personal care)
      • Tom’s of Maine (personal care)
      • Dr. Bronners (personal care)
      • King Arthur Flour (food ingredients)
      • Earth Bound Farm (food and beverages)
      • Dansko Footwear (shoes)

      The top 20 list also includes products such as clothing, ice cream, beer, chocolate, and tea. This illustrates how pretty much all product types can be made in ways that are good!

      What makes these companies good?

      Here are a few examples of the principles behind these leading “green” companies:

      • Manufacturing with 100% certified wind power.
      • No bleach, bromate, preservatives, or other unnecessary chemicals.
      • No synthetic herbicides, fumigants, or fertilizers.
      • All organic without the use of any genetically engineered or modified crops.
      • Complete transparency about business and product practices.
      • Considering the lifecycle analysis of packaging.
      • Cradle to cradle design philosophy “We want to become restorative and enriching in everything we do so that the bigger we get, the more good we create”.
